GET TO KNOW THE TEACHERS OF BALANCE YOGA
I am a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200) through Yoga Alliance and I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher training at Balance Yoga & Wellness in New Orleans, LA.
I am inspired by the beauty and simplicity and messiness of ordinary life. The first delicious sip of coffee in the morning, cold mountain air hitting the lungs, the whole family in bed together on Saturday morning, the sunset on the bayou, food! I am inspired by Mary Oliver, Ani DiFranco, Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, Pema Chodron, and my yoga teachers Jessica Blanchard, Mikhayla Anderson, and AJ Durand. I am inspired by the mystery and strength of our bodies. And I am inspired by the ever-present opportunity to wake up and experience it all.
I practice to connect with my body and breath, to commit a time for myself, and to be my best self for those I love and serve.
I have been an elementary school teacher for close to 15 years. I love everything about teaching – forming unique relationships with students, learning through the experiences of others, opening the window to new ideas and information, and planning purposeful lessons that connect with students’ interests and push them to grow their abilities. Yoga is another great love and it is a beautiful and humbling experience to have the opportunity to bring together my love of teaching with my love of yoga. Teaching, on the mat and in the classroom, keeps me awake and connected.
